Hi, I'm Melissa Quinones
4th grade teacher at YSCP
HI! My name is Melissa Quinones, also known as Mrs. Q! I am your child’s fourth grade teacher! I am so excited to teach here at YSCP and to meet your child. I am looking forward to an exciting year of growth and learning!
I received my elementary education degree from Rhode Island College in 1993. I moved here to State College from New Jersey in 2007. I have 17 years of teaching experience in various grades- mostly in second and fourth grades, and several years as a substitute teacher in SCASD and at YSCP. I love fourth graders and love seeing their growth over the course of the school year as they develop into more independent learners and thinkers.
I have been married for almost 25 years to my husband Ron, where we celebrated our anniversary in Costa Rica this summer. We have three amazing daughters (a college sophomore, a sophomore in high school, & a 7th grader). Our family pets include a dog named Annabelle, a cat named Whiskers, and a rabbit named Sunny. In my free time (which I rarely have LOL), I enjoy scrapbooking and traveling.
I believe school is a partnership between teachers and you ,the parents. You know your child the best, and your insight is extremely valuable to me. I will be sending home various questionnaires to help me get to know your child more. Please know you can email me any time at [email protected] !
